Former Beehive State College Stars Make Big Plays In NFL Week 2

The second week of the NFL regular season was full of action, poor kicking and yet another tie. In the middle of the excitement, former stars from colleges in Utah shined for their respective teams. Here’s how those who made a splash on the big stage fared:
Former Utes:
Tim Patrick, Broncos (2-0): First career catch was a big one at the end of the fourth quarter, setting up a game-winning field goal in Denver’s 20-19 win over Oakland.

Eric Weddle, Ravens (1-1): Made seven tackles, six unassisted and broke up a pass in Baltimore’s 34-23 loss at Cincinnati.

Alex Smith, Redskins (1-1): Completed 33-of-46 pass, did not throw an interception but also did not throw a touchdown in a loss to Indianapolis.

Marcus Williams, Saints (1-1): Picked off Browns QB Tyrod Taylor in New Orleans’ close 21-18 win over Cleveland.

Former Cougars:
Taysom Hill, Saints (1-1): Showed off some impressive speed and elusiveness in a 47-yard kickoff return in the Saints win over the Browns

Fred Warner, 49ers (1-1): Finished his second-straight week with double-digit tackles with 10 in the Niners’ 30-27 victory over the Lions.

Jamaal Williams, Packers (1-0-1): Carried the ball 16 times for 59 yards in a dramatic 29-29 tie to the Vikings.

Kyle Van Noy, Patriots (1-1): Although his team lost 31-20 to Jacksonville, he made six tackles and had an interception.

Michael Davis, Chargers (1-1): Forced a fumble on a Buffalo punt return in the Chargers’ 31-20 win.

Nick Vigil, Bengals (2-0): Led his team with nine tackles and broke up a pass in a 34-23 win over Baltimore on Thursday.

MONDAY NIGHT, Seahawks at Bears:
Former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner is listed as out with a groin injury for the injury-riddled Seahawks. For the Bears, former Utah defensive lineman Kylie Fitts and former Utah State long snapper Patrick Scales are both on the active roster for Monday’s game. Kickoff is at 6:15 p.m. on ESPN.
