SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It’s going to be an exciting week for sports fans in Utah. Here’s a rundown of what’s happening, why it’s a big deal and where viewers can tune in:

Wednesday

The Utah Jazz open the 2018-19 NBA regular season on the road against the Sacramento Kings. Many national outlets, including ESPN, are projecting the Jazz to be one of the best teams in the league. Led by stars like 2017-18 Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz are starting the season healthy and loaded to make a run in the playoffs come time. After a perfect 5-0 preseason that included a 132-93 blowout over Sacramento, the Jazz will get things started against the Kings at Golden1 Center. The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet at 8 p.m.

Due to the UEA weekend break this week, many high school football games will take place in the middle of the week. Game Night Live on KSL is no different. A lot is on the line in this week’s edition of GNL between Orem and Spanish Fork. The winner will take the Region 10 title as both teams are undefeated in region play. The game will be broadcast live on the KSL TV app starting at 6 p.m.

Thursday

Real Salt Lake’s playoff hopes are hanging by a thread as they enter Thursday’s matchup with the New England Revolution. More than likely, RSL will have to win both of their last two games to hold on to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. New England has already been eliminated from the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, so they’ll look to play the spoiler in the home finale for RSL. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. The game can be streamed on the KSL TV app.

Friday

The Jazz will welcome the class of the NBA, the Golden State Warriors, to Vivint SmartHome Arena for Utah’s home opener. Golden State looks primed to compete for their third-straight title in the 2018-19 season. Meanwhile, the Jazz will look to show where they stand in the tough Western Conference against the Warriors. The game will broadcast nationally on ESPN at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday

A big day for college football in the Beehive State begins with Utah State traveling to Wyoming. The Aggies are on fire, having a five-game winning streak while putting up 40-plus points in each victory. They received votes for the Top 25 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. A sixth-straight win will likely propel the Aggies into the Top 25 for the first time since 2012. The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet at 12:30 p.m.

After a big upset win over No. 3-ranked Eastern Washington last Saturday, No. 7 Weber State will look to keep things rolling in Big Sky Conference play against Montana State. The game will also be on AT&T SportsNet, kicking off at 4 p.m.

Utah will host USC in a game with major Pac-12 South implications. A win over USC, which beat Colorado last week, would put Utah in the driver’s seat for the Pac-12 South title. With back-to-back wins over Stanford and Arizona, it seems that Utah is starting to play to the potential that got many excited going into the season. The Trojans and Utes will kick off at 6 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.

Sunday

Real Salt Lake will play its regular season finale against the Portland Timbers on the road at 3 p.m. No different than Thursday’s game against New England, it’s likely that RSL’s playoff chances will come down to the last two games. A win over both New England and Portland, which beat RSL 4-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Oct. 6, will keep RSL in the playoffs. Losses and wins by the LA Galaxy will jump the Galaxy over RSL for the last spot in the postseason. The game will kick off at 3 p.m. and can be viewed live on the KSL TV app.

Finally, the week in sports will conclude with a Sunday Night Football matchup between two of the top teams in the AFC, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Former Utah State Aggie Nick Vigil leads a stingy Bengals defense against Kansas City, which suffered their first loss of the season against the New England Patriots last Sunday. The game will begin at 6:20 p.m. on KSL.
