SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The only thing that could slow down the East High Leopards against Jordan was a rain delay that paused the action for about an hour and 45 minutes. Once play resumed, East picked up right where they left off, en route to a 36-21 victory.
It didn’t take long for the Leopards to find the end zone in the season opener against Jordan. It took only a few seconds actually, as East running back Charlie Vincent took the handoff and ran all the way to the end zone on the first play from scrimmage.
Asked when he knew he had a wide open path to paydirt, Vincent laughed and answered, “Before the game.”
East will face Bingham in a rematch of the state championship game in Week 2. Jordan will go for its first win of the year against Pleasant Grove.
